Food and service was good. It’s in the middle of shops. So there isn’t much view. It’s open air seating.
Our go to spot during our vacation. The shrimp Vera Cruz was beyond delicious. Also tried their quesadillas and ahi tuna poke bowl which were both flavorful! The staff during both visits were friendly and attentive. Can’t recommend this cafe enough, definitely a must try!
The drinks, the food, the courtyard, everything was so so great. The drinks were refreshing and flavorful, the food was out of this world, I got the vegan bowl with shrimp, and my friend got the tacos. Both of them were beautifully prepared and bursting with color and flavor. I loved the fresh locally grown greens on the vegan bowl, and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The bar area was really cute and seemed like a great spot to meet new friends. Our server, Juliet, was so friendly and had great recommendations for exploring as well! Will definitely make it a regular visit when I head over to St. John.
my family has been in st. john for about a week, and this has been by far our best food experience. we ordered the ahi tuna poke bowl, mahi mahi tacos, and crab stuffed mahi mahi. we also got some cocktails too. everything was so freaking delicious, and the drinks were strong too ayeeeee!!! i think we got extra lucky because our server told us that they had just caught a tuna that day and were going to be serving it. epic. we talked about how good the food was all the way home, and how we’ve been disappointed by other places, but not sun dog. and the cherry on top was that our server was awesome! i wish i could remember his name, but oh my god he was hilarious. super attentive and friendly, went out of his way for us. he definitely put in the work for that tip. even if the service sucked we STILL would’ve loved it here because it was so yum yum yum
This is an amazing outdoor café, The umbrellas and constant breeze keep you very comfortable regardless of the weather! At night time the lighting is delightful. This is a great place to bring children and children are welcomed. The food is outstanding-the tacos, Aji, tuna, and mixed drinks are amazing! I am gluten-free and have found this menu to be very friendly. The server even switched my taco shell from a flour tortilla to a corn tortilla just so I could enjoy the tacos. Even though it is located in Mongoose Station, the parking is easy. We simply drive to the back of the shops and we always find ample parking-Of course there are times when parking isn’t always easy but to park here is the best bet! This is truly great dining in St. John! We eat at Sundog at least five times during our stay on St. John.
Got a to go order from Sun Dog Cafe. All of our entree's were great! This is just a tiny kitchen, with a few outdoor tables, and a fun little bar where you pick up your order. Show up a few minutes before your food is ready to so you can have a drink. Great spot in Mongoose Junction.
We are a family of four that came here hungry after snorkeling. Hubby and I split a bowl of the chorizo black bean soup and it came with a wonderful garlic cheese bread that had roasted garlic on the top- AMAZING!!! I had the jerk chicken tacos and so did the hubs- very good. Although I have had better jerk chicken- this was still good. Daughter had jerk chicken quasedillas- also amazing. Our son had the crab Mac n cheese- which he also loved. Our server was also very helpful, attentive, and informative. I think there were only like 6 tables though- which didnt affect us because we got sat right away. I think the only complaint was the ice water tasted a little bleachy- but still give 5 stars all the way. Would definitely return!! Did I mention the soup was insanely good?!?!?! I'll be dreaming of it for years.....
Food is fantastic. Music was excellent. Servers were busy and not sure who our server was as two kept asking for our order, which should have been a dream, but delivery was still slow and some items never came but also were not charged for. All in all, a great spot to dine and listen to live music.
Such a great local place! The drinks were on point and the app was delicious - we got the honey garlic bread. The best part was the bar tender, Casey, and locals we chatted with. It was great island vibe with lovely people!!
Excellent food and amazing service in a very casual, courtyard sitting environment. The place seems very friendly and inviting. We tried a few items from a vegetarian flat bread to veggie and Chicken quesidillas and mahi mahi tacos. Every thing tasted amazing Our server was very friendly and cheerful. She made the eating experence even better. Do not get confused by the casual environment, the food and service are at par if not better than some fine dining eateies.
